People have been asking me for some Google SEO tips and hence I was thinking about writing this article for a long time. I sat down; jotted all the vital points and have finally completed it. On-page SEO is now really important after Google Panda update. Old SEO techniques that were used years ago might not be useful now. In fact, they might be harmful for your blogs. Here I am jotting down my two bits –

Domain age – Google prefers Websites that are relatively older and hence I would recommend you to buy older domains for your new projects. Or if you are buying a new one, keep it for at least five years.

Upgrade the blog at regular intervals – It is important that your blog is updated regularly. Google likes sites which are up-to-date. I make sure that all my online properties are updated at least once a week and my blog posts are regularly updated too.

Write for visitors – It is recommended that you publish articles which provide information not for Google but to the visitors. I am not saying that you should ignore the concept of keyword density but your visitors should enjoy reading the article. A high keyword density doesn’t guarantee you a higher ran. Also, you should use LSI keywords.

Press release submission – This is another great way to get powerful backlinks and traffic. But your press releases should be powerful. A press release that is written well will attract a lot of publishers and this will give you a lot of links in turn.

Flash – Flash might look very attractive to you but it is useless from Google’s point of view because Flash can’t be read by Google.

Meta tags – Using meta tags can be effective in SEO. They aren’t so important now but I still use them anyways.
Heading tab – Use heading tags like H1, H2, and H3; they are useful provided you use it in the right way. Heading tags should follow up each other and I don’t use 2 H1 tags. Also, you should put the targeted keyword in heading tags.

Setting sitemaps – Sitemaps are important. For my WordPress blogs, I don’t just set up simple sitemap but also video and image sitemap. All these sitemaps are then submitted to main search engines. This is really important and shouldn’t be ignored.

Mark out the keywords – Highlight your keyword by making it bold, underlined, and italicized in all your posts.

External links – The external links should be built for almost all the pages of your site and not just for the home page. This will show Google that the post has useful stuff to offer.

Distribution of articles – submitting articles to the article directories are effective but aren’t as powerful as they used to be some time ago. These days, I first publish my articles and then submit them to many article directories. This can be done by some kinda article submitter software too.

Images – You should use images as illustrate your article and it is also good from the SEO point of view. The image should contain a title and description along with the keyword.

There has been much humming of change in Google algorithm for the last two months. And the last few weeks witnessed major change in the ranking system of Google. This will give online companies a fresh start for the competition to land on the first page of Google’s search. The new Google algorithm will track down the low quality websites in the internet and also the content farms. Content farms are termed to those companies which employ full time or part-time writers to create loads of content. This is done to increase revenue of those companies through page views by net readers. As this new Google algorithm is focusing specially over the content farms, the algorithm has been named as The Farmer.

In case my article doesn’t give a hint of a mean to capture page views, I would present the facts about this newly launched Google algorithm. The algorithm has been put into effect from February 2011. Since its launch in February, it has affected approximately 11% to 12% if the search engine queries within US. This factual statement is true enough to show that effectiveness of this algorithm. No news has been released as to when the new algorithm will be affecting search queries in other parts of the world.

The websites that are highly damaged due to this Google algorithm are those which run after absolute monetizing through their content loaded pages. By now several article distribution sites to search for content farm articles. Special scrutiny will be performed by Google on those sites where apart from content abundant ads are posted.

Creating unique and high quality content that will provide handy information to readers is the only route to escape. So start writing and stop copying.

To paraphrase Shakespeare; “To link or not to link, is that even a question?” But the million dollar question is what you should link to in your blog post if you want to go down that road. What sort of link building strategies should you use? The number of outbound links you have and the manner in which you use them is critical. Here are some ways in which link building strategies could be beneficial to you.

Building networks and relationships

Building a niche community helps build a blog up over time. Don’t dismiss the idea of linking to blogs you might be linking to. Your readers and the the community as a whole might appreciate your going the extra mile and the relationship could be more rewarding than you think.

Don’t steal credit

The reason to have outbound links is to prove your facts and to corroborate your own research. Not everything you write will be original, but the least you can do is link back to the source of the information. Let readers know your research has been done and it’s all credible.

Don’t overdo it

Don’t be a link whore. There is such a thing as too much of a good thing. Relevant links can certainly help you with SEO and Google, keep the number of links reasonable. Don’t overdo it because beyond a point it seems like spam or an untrustworthy maneuver. If that happens, it’ll do more harm than good.

Credit guest writers and image sources

If you can’t afford to hire a blogger or a photographer, have no fear. Some blogs and photographers will allow you to use their resources (with prior permission, of course). Giving a short bio about them and their work and thanking them is the way to go as a way of appreciating their gesture.

Flesh out your opinion

With any kind of luck, your opinions are based on fact or research. Having an opinion is a good thing, but back it up with facts. Don’t be a rabble rouser that forwards an opinion just because you can. Use links to back up your statements.

You don’t have to always link

Sometimes, linking to something externally can slow down comprehension and understanding of the topic at hand. So don’t be too heavy on the linking and do away with it altogether sometimes. It’s not a rule of blogging that you have to have outbound links every time.

Showcase information

Sometimes, you want to quote more about a particular source or bring together a bunch of diverse opinions under one roof. Link back at times like this since it adds credence to your own post and it is a way to pay respect to the source from whom you got this information in the first place. Don’t be a plagiarist. Linking is not the same thing as plagiarising.

I usually find people have some kind of perception about Google Search Engine SEO and the kind of work they do. Even people say SEO for a blog or a website is useless; this is a misconception because there are large numbers of SEO myths. Regrettably, the myths are spread on the forums and blogs, which is really miserable for new blogger or for a new website. Before spreading these myths, readers don’t even try to do research on it and believe it to be true. These myths can be really harmful and thus I want to share some of the common SEO myths which you might have heard or read somewhere which are definitely not correct.

Meta Tags for High Ranking:

I have seen so many good ranked sites with absolutely no Meta tags. So this is a most popular myth that words in your Meta tags must be used on your page. The truth is just opposite. Meta tags were designed to be used for keywords that were not on the page.

PPC ads will affect your Ranking:

This just makes me laugh, because PPC ads don’t affect your Google ranking. Neither it lowers your ranking nor does it bring your ranking up.

You need to have H1 Tag (Header Tag):

Using H1 tags affect your ranking to very negligible ratio. My own test doesn’t found any drastic changed because

of H1 tag, rather its bit difficult to find out the exact result.

No need to Update:

Many people say that you don’t need to update your site to maintain your ranking. In fact, it is recommended that on updating your pages on regular basis helps bots to visit your site to list the changes. If updating if your site is ignored that your rank can easily slip out.

Duplicate content is harmless:

It is a pure myth that duplicate content doesn’t affect your page ranking. Content is the most important factor and thus it should be original and unique, otherwise you will lose your loyal readers as well as search engine rank

Follow Google guidelines:

Many think that their site will be banned if they don’t follow Google webmaster guidelines. Google guidelines are very easy and very common but don’t do it for search engine. Use only that guideline which you feel appropriate for yourself.

Keyword stuffing will give you higher rank:

This is wrong .If you are stuffing keywords or having hidden text on your site, you can get banned from search engines.

Google sitemap is compulsory:

Google sitemap is not at all compulsory if you have structured website. If you think that Google sitemap is going to raise your ranking then I would suggest better not to go for that. It’s not bad to have Google sitemap but having just for the sake of high ranking is bad. Your site just needs to be spider friendly. For higher search engine ranking read here.

Content should have more than 250 words:

It’s not compulsory to have more than 250 words content .There is no hard and fast rule for SEO. Important point is it should be interesting even with fewer words with uniqueness and proper keywords you can attract search engines. Short article do same for your rank as long articles do. For Writing Skills read here.

SEO is very simple to learn:

This is the worst myth. SEO is not a one or two month task. Not everyone can do it. There are many activities involved in SEO job and you have to do it professionally.

Blogging has become real huge now and I have seen many companies publishing their ads through blogs rather than printing postures, may be that this way its more economical and can reach wider audience too at the same time. But what really attracts a person to the blog, is it a title or the body of the article or simply through a suggestion. Most of the times it happens and even few of us might have experienced that we read articles based on their titles, if the title sounds interesting than it can lure your readers into reading further. Some of you, who are new to blogs, might not even know that your titles or the keywords are the prime most important things that will direct a position of your site in search engines. If you have attractive title with widely used keywords in it then surely it is going to push your site at the top most pages of the search engines but for that you need to come up or rather know the key words which your audience would be searching over the net.

So before you head out to write your blogs, the first and foremost is to decide upon an attractive title for your blogs. You must have quite noticed when you search something over internet there is more probability of you finding the pages with exactly the same words that you typed in search engines the reason being, the site members have researched well as to what their audience would search, identifying such keywords is not difficult and with the help of Google adwords keyword tool you can find all the keywords which are searched the most.

You can only build your brand over your blogging

networks once you gain your readers support and that will gradually happen as they start liking your topics and the content you have written. Make use of google tools and research the words that the users are most likely to type in search engines, if you belong to a particular niche say writing only about management then search for words which people would search. Remember, while you put in the keywords, think of the words that you as a reader would be keying in to search for the topics that would give you an idea.

The search volume for the keywords will help you find the volume of the key words which are searched on Internet on a monthly basis, if you have few lots of words then go for the once which are rated highest in the adwords tool. Keep in mind that even a single word in your title here and there would cause a lot of changes in your rankings, in my research I have found that the titles which starts from “how to”, “how is”, etc. are the most searched upon compared to normal sentences and its but obvious when people would search to find the procedure for something they are going to type “how to”. So research well for the titles you are going to put in and get good search engine rankings.

You want to make it big in online business, right? As one of the successful online business persons, I must tell you that my journey to the top was not all that easy. All the way, I was a good observer of failures and learnt a lot from them. I want to share my success secrets with you so that you do your homework before getting started and avoid failures as much as possible.

The first thing that you should bear in mind is that online business is like any other business and you get to taste success after a lot of correct moves. Like other businesses, those who make it big in online businesses are few. Business is not only about luck or hard work. An important ingredient is business acumen that helps you play your cards right. This is what the majority of us is not gifted with and therefore lags behind while only a few make it to the top. A successful businessman will analyze the loopholes in his concepts and techniques, and work upon them.

Surprisingly, I find, success or failure is not as much about technical knowledge or skills, as about human elements. This is what self development author and trainer, Dale Carnegie has to say about success:

“Even in such technical lines as engineering, about 15% of one’s financial success is due one’s technical knowledge and about 85% is due to skill in human engineering, to personality and the ability to lead people.”

Now, do you see the dividing line? Why the majority of us are unsuccessful is because of our attitudinal problems. Here’s what I gathered from my experience in the online business world. Thinking in these lines is going to help you in avoiding failure to a large extent:

Faking authority is foolish: When I surf the internet, I come across only a few reliable sites. Unfortunately the rest are all bogus. Do you know why? Many people eagerly try giving information without having expertise in the subject. Remember, that your readers are no longer novice in anything. Using Internet technology they gather heaps of information at the click of a mouse button. They are intelligent enough to figure out if you are an expert in your subject or not. If they find that you are faking expertise, they’ll label you as unreliable, and go to the expert. Before you start selling your products make sure that you are armed with expert knowledge.

Why do it when you don’t have your heart in it?: Blindly joining the rat race is what many of us do. When the internet business concept first came into being, I saw many ‘budding entrepreneurs’ running for it just because it was the talk of the town. But then, may I ask why the number of people who make it big is so few? Don’t give in to a popular craze if it really doesn’t interest you. See if you really like it and if you have the skills to succeed in it. Well, you might be short of rewarding career options. But even the most popularly rewarding career might suffer if you aren’t the correct person for it. Just listen to your heart and you’ll be on cloud nine. That’s what I did and I really thank my stars for that. Believe me; a whole hearted attempt always pays.

If money is your only passion, forget it: Working for money, is different from working for only money. Online business does give great monetary returns and many of us are primarily attracted to online business investments for these returns. I don’t blame anyone for that. Naturally, when livelihood has become so expensive, money is an important criterion for a business investment. But if money is your only attraction and you don’t like the business or don’t have aptitude for it, better you quit. The logic out here is very simple. To get a good output, you need a good input. Money is an output. Your interest and skills are your inputs. If you don’t have a good input how can you expect a good output? Your output should never be your motivating factor because without good input motivation, its illogical to think of a good output. The inputs were my passion and the output was my reward.

Have faith in yourself: In the early days of my business, I had to struggle a lot. There were many times when I felt that my business wasn’t giving me the desired results and so I should switch over or just wind up. I was repeatedly unsuccessful in around 20 attempts of mine. After that the silver lining on the cloud became visible. I started climbing up the ladder to success and since then I’ve never looked back. If I would have let my fickle-mindedness get the better of me, I would not have got the opportunity to see that which was in store for me beyond my failures. Every failure was a learning experience for me rather than a disappointing event. My self confidence and determination were the foundation stones of my success on which I built up my prosperity.

Be a Warrior: Success does not come that easily. In a world full of fierce competition, you can’t expect things to come your way very easily. I faced a lot of obstacles when I first launched my online business. Nobody noticed me in the market and my revenue was nil. Many a time, there was a lull in the market in which many online businesses did not get good response. The statistics of the successful percentage was pretty discouraging, but I fought my way through. I did not lose heart. Another thing I learnt was not to make myself totally dependent on anybody. Just imagine, many online businesses have become parasitic on Google. You should be able to survive even without Google if situations turn out to be so.

Now since I’ve told you my secrets, learn up these and proceed ahead. Don’t waste time in common mistakes. Feel free to share your opinion with me here.

“Always bear in mind that your own resolution to succeed is more important than any other thing.”
– Abraham Lincoln

Do you benefit from high levels of income generated through Google Adsense?

It is not uncommon to read informative articles or newsletters that state there are some people who earn as much as $10,000 in a month’s time by taking advantage of Adsense marketing. You may have even heard stories of individuals who have earned as much as $1 million in a year’s time, with the earning power that Google advertisements supplied them with.

Educate yourself with Google Adsense Income and learn how you too can earn an income of six-figures.

When site owners obtain ads from Google adsense, there is no time required for selling the product. Google adsense simply gives you a code that will generate the display of a targeted advertisement to appear on your site. The idea is to get visitors that come to your site to click on these advertisements, and in turn you are able to earn a commission. This is a popular way to generate larger amounts of income, but there site owners that do not maximize benefits in using Adsense to the fullest potential.

6 effective ways to increase levels of revenue using Google Adsense

Pick the right spot – Generally the middle of a website is saved for informative content on a site. Therefore, it is best to place your block for Adsense at the very top portion of your site page. The idea is to format your site in such a way that the ads do not appear as advertisements, but instead look like additional links offering information for the services or products of your site.

Select a beneficial size – Many website owners have found that they can gain the most benefit from choosing the large rectangle (336×280) ad format. This is simply because the other choices, such as the Wide Skyscraper (160×600) and the Leaderboard (728×90), look exactly like advertisements, whereas the rectangle format does not, which means it receives the largest number of clicks.

Do away with borders – Website owners have found by simply making one small change in their Google ad appearance, it increases amounts of revenue they earn, and this is by removing the border. Borders totally take away from the effect that you are trying to create with the ads being additional content added to your site.

Font likeness – The content on your site should look the same as the font style and size of your block for Google adsense. This helps to give it the natural appearance and smooth flow of being another part of your site.

Color matching – Just as with the fonts, the colors used in the ads should also match the color schemes that you choose for your site.

Remove distractions – Cramming too many graphics or links into a website page can be very distracting, and many times it will result in the customer becoming frustrated and leaving your site to find one that is much more user-friendly. If it is not an essential part of your site, then do not include it.

Website owners often notice a dramatic difference with the click-thru ratio of the ads contained on their site, simply by keeping these 6 steps in mind.

There are many entrepreneurs that often become very surprised when they realize just how beneficial it can be for their online business simply to take the time to sharpen up their personal relations skills. Putting exciting and impressive information in view of the public and online readers has the ability to spark the interest of new leads for your business that you will then be able to develop into long-term business relationships.

By posting interesting information on your site about exciting events or awards that you have won, and then publishing a press release to announce the information, is a great way to get the name of your business in the news. This act alone will drive more traffic to your website, which will in turn earn more revenue for you.

One tactic that many individuals do not think of is to take control and create your own interesting news about your business. This can be done very easily by simply sending an email survey to existing subscribers, listing a variety of questions for them to answer about the quality of service or products that you provide. Creating a press release using some of the information you have obtained as highlights of your findings is an excellent way to establish newsworthy material.

There are numerous people who simply are unable to find the time to create a press release, and there are many others who just do not know how. If this is the type of situation you face, there are several choices of social media tools and services offered online that are available that have become extremely popular among individuals of the online world as effective methods to use that result in productive public relations. Facebook, Twitter, and Blogs are great areas to place a few interesting paragraphs about your company that involves exciting news about your business. They are an increasingly popular means that is considered to be very effective for spreading news. The paragraphs you create could include such information as new growth in your business, a new location you may be moving to, industrial events your business is involved in, and even the need to hire professional experts in the industry. Depending on the amount of coverage that you are looking for, free services that are offered at places like The Open Press and PRLog can be an advantage you will want to consider. Other services like MarketWire and PR Newswire are also services that are available that provides even a larger distribution at reasonable prices.

As we all know that Google in terms of monopoly is the highest market leader of today. Google has always consistently focused on what the search marketers are looking for. Google Monopoly is not quite preferable for search marketers as Google has set standards, privacy policies, rules etc in such a way that either a search marketer has to obey them or has to knock himself out. Google has managed and balanced itself so consistently with the other major players including yahoo, AOL, Ask etc that it has become difficult for the search marketer to knock out Google-centric mindsets of today. As a result Google Monopoly is proving bad for the marketers.

Common problems faced by the search marketers due to the Google Monopoly are described below:

Power of Monopolies:
Google has set standards for PPC advertising’s which it can raise up to any level if the search engines are providing with 90% +share of the market. In such case even the illegal or fraud clicks made by search marketers have to pay the amount asked by it or else they have to shut it down as they have no choice. So in such case Google can dictate pricing as its advantage of its monopolies. This shows the power of Google Monopolies.

Monopolies Control:
You have to get along with the rules and regulations of the monopolies even if you don’t like it. Google’s stance on data collection, paid links, cloaking etc even if you dislike such rules you have no option but to except them as there is only one big fish in the town and to get hold of it you have to follow it. This shows how monopolies have control over the search marketers.

Google can penalize you:
If you don’t follow Google’s rules, regulations and guidelines Google by all means can penalize your site or can set you out of the index. On doing so your page rank will again become ZERO. It can exercise it power on any large or small site with the help of Google’s web spam team.

Monopolies can be demanding:
In order to be listed in the Google search engine in your coming future you need to provide your personal data or the data regarding your site to Google. To represent your sites information you can add Site meter, Sitemaps or Webmaster Tools. It will be next to impossible to fight Google if it comes to know about what is happening around the web more than anyone else.

Monopolies are subjectively less to Market Strategies:
Google have become symbols of consumer aggression. Google is managing itself on staying ahead on user demands but due to its monopolies it is becoming quite difficult for it to keep on managing for the same. As a result its job has become progressively low. Once the market position becomes secure it becomes cause of frustration and disappointment for the consumers.

Competition is difficult:
The competition against the Google monopolies is incredibly difficult and to establish a search engine is even more difficult. So in this case Google again become a supreme power for the search marketers to defeat it.

Google has become a corporate:
It’s been noticed by the bloggers, SEO’s and the journalists that Google has now changed over to become a corporate. The privacy policy, search history etc is been included in a site not because it’s good but because Google thinks it right for their business which have made it corporate.

After all the above point a big question arises that can we ever get hold of Google’s advancing hold over the web? This question remains unanswered since the times Google have established itself to such a power with its vast network and monopolies due to which now its not how can we get hold of Google, the thing is how can we handle the increasing competition against Google?
