Make Social Media and SEO Exposure Beneficial

social-media-marketing

In taking advantage of using various networks for profitable Internet marketing such as StumbleUpon, Digg, and Facebook, you may begin to wonder where effective SEO enters into these areas of strategy. In doing so, you are not only able to benefit from a positive impact on these networks, but the areas of social media can also be very beneficial in giving the effort you have put into SEO a solid ground to build upon. How can the specific areas you target for SEO exposure and social media be brought to their fullest potential?

Are Title Tags Really That Important?

As the title tags and the header tags are the first impression that many users read about your site, you will want to provide optimized tags that are compelling and interesting so they are effective for reeling the reader in. As you use numbers, specifics, and names make sure you use powerful words that are descriptive. After all, grabbing a reader’s undivided attention is what you are aiming for with strategic social media titles.

Titles tags that are effective in gaining SEO exposure among search engines should include keywords that are popular and relevant to your specific site. It is also important to carefully consider the strategies you use in seeing that the keywords appear in the beginning of title tags.

Some individuals are faced with a dilemma of not knowing how to use tags that will achieve both of these tasks successfully – effective exposure in both the SEO and social media arena at the same time.

The Answer…

However impossible it may seem to some individuals, it is very possible to successfully achieve both and it is simply by performing two simple steps.

When you are writing content that you plan to place on networks such as Reddit, Twitter, Digg, or StumbleUpon, create a title that reaches out and grabs the attention of readers, even if it means a title that may be controversial or shocking. After you have accomplished a snazzy title you can then use the social media sites to promote your articles. Generally this results in a large amount of traffic, but almost always the popularity will begin to lessen over time.

This is your opportunity to change the article’s title tag into one that focuses on SEO using relevant and popular keywords. You will however want to leave the social media directed header tag alone so it can continue to snag search visitors who will want to read the content you have provided.

What Does This Tactic Achieve?

Once you have obtained traffic by creating enticing titles that are shared on the social media platform that do not always offer the most detailed and search friendly, you are able to maximize your efforts by performing the next step. Title tags that are changed can benefit in even more search traffic by making the addition of popular and descriptive keywords, which will also increase your rank with search engines. Do not make the mistake of shorting yourself on visitors you could benefit from in using this effective technique.

Using Search Engine Referrals to Jumpstart Topics

Using Search Engine Referrals to Jumpstart TopicsIf you’re anything like me, you probably check your blog’s stats regularly. I often spend half an hour every day reviewing daily stats for the numerous blogs I write for. I’m not normally interested in the pageviews and referral sources only. What I’m really intrigued with is the keywords that users have used to arrived at my blog.

Most analytics packages like Google Analytics, Mint and pMetrics track search engine referrals, and could tell you the top keywords that people use when they get to your blog. For example, for one particular science blog I contribute to, people referred by Google seem to be searching for the H1N1 virus, using various keywords like Swine Flu and the like. This would prompt me to write more about the topic, knowing it’s something that people like reading about. Of course, this is a popular topic today, and I’d be riding the trend if I wrote about H1N1.

However, even better for me is finding novel and unique keywords that people use on their searches. For example, I would never know how someone landed on my tech blog using keywords related to nudity and adult websites. Or perhaps it’s because I wrote about the adult website industry some time back, in the context of blogs and social networking. It’s not what I expected, but it’s intriguing. It made me realize how relevant that site could be in different niches.

Reading up on your referral stats could help you better focus the content on your site. If you find that your readers land on your blog or any specific posts within using the keywords that you are actually optimizing for, then congratulations! But you shouldn’t stop there. If you see some interesting keywords popping up, then you can also optimize for these keywords. Your site has already popped up as a relevant match. You can now follow through with this relevancy.

What best way to focus on these keywords than to use these to jumpstart new categories or topics. For instance, in my mention of referrals from adult-related searches, I could have probably written more about the dynamics between social networks and the adult industry. That would definitely be keyword rich, and would push up my site further in the search engine results. Then again, it was my choice not to, because I thought it would be too controversial. But my point remains. If you find an interesting and intriguing referral, try to do a follow-up. It might be a good way to jumpstart new topics that are interesting to new, prospective readers.

Tips for Writing Great Headlines

Writing great headlines is good SEO. Not only does it help search engines index your blog better with more keyword-rich titles and headers, it also attracts people to reading your posts. This is especially effective in those instances where users read your blog from RSS feed readers, and the blog post title is the only thing they see.

Top writers like Copyblogger‘s Brain Clark would usually suggest that you write bold, attention-grabbing headlines. This drives people to dig deeper into your content.

Be specific

When writing your blog post title, be specific enough to describe the content of your article. Instead of saying “Writing Tips for Bloggers,” you could perhaps say “How to Use Headlines to Attract Readrs.” Or maybe instead of saying “Gadgets to buy this summer,” you can say “Top five netbooks under $300.” Making it more specific will appeal to a user’s imagination. There are thousands of writing tips out there. There are dozens and dozens of gadget blogs offering reviews. And a user will probably just navigate out of your RSS feed page or blog homepage if they don’t get interested enough.

Ask questions

Most good headlines and titles are in the form of a statement. However, if you want to get your reader’s interest even more, ask them a question. This helps give the feeling that you are encouraging interaction and contributions among your readers. This makes them feel important. And in turn, you gain an advantage by actually passing on to the readers some of the responsibility in content-generation. Instead of sayin “Top places to spend the summer vacation,” You can post an entry that asks “Where are you spending your summer vacation?” Then in a few paragraphs tell your readers what your summer vacation plans are. At the end, direct the question at them again. Publish, then sit back, relax, and wait for comments to come in.

Promise something exciting

Most linkbait writers know how to formulate their headlines such that it would attract much attention in social bookmarking sites. They sometimes make outrageous claims or very exciting propositions. This doesn’t necessarily have to be too outrageous, but at least make it exciting. Instead of saying “Download free software here,” you can say “How to save thosuands of dollars with these free software.” Or instead of saying “Apple launches new MacBook,” you can say “Why Apple’s OS X Tiger Blows Vista Away.”

Of course, you shouldn’t neglect to write good content, because great content is the foundation of a good blog. However, headlines help people find great content, and drive readers to your blog. Good headlines also make your blog post ready for social bookmarkers, because sites like Digg.com and delicious.com usually get the contents of the attribute automatically when you post a link. Learn to write a good title, and write your blog post around it.</p> </div> <div style="clear:both;"></div> <div class="postmeta2"> <p><span class="tags">Tags: <a href="http://www.bloggingwithchris.com/tag/headlines/" rel="tag">headlines</a>, <a href="http://www.bloggingwithchris.com/tag/writing/" rel="tag">writing</a></span></p> </div> <h1><a href="http://www.bloggingwithchris.com/struggling-with-seo/" rel="bookmark">Struggling with SEO?</a></h1> <div class="date"> <div class="dateleft"> <p><span class="time">April 26, 2009</span> by <a href="http://www.bloggingwithchris.com/author/admin/" title="Posts by Chris" rel="author">Chris</a>   <br /> Filed under <a href="http://www.bloggingwithchris.com/category/seo/" title="View all posts in SEO" rel="category tag">SEO</a></p> </div> <div class="dateright"> <p><span class="comment"><a href="http://www.bloggingwithchris.com/struggling-with-seo/#comments" title="Comment on Struggling with SEO?">12 Comments</a></span></p> </div> </div> <div align="justify" style="font-size:14px;"><p><strong>Struggling with SEO? It’s Bogus!</p> <p>Making money is not that difficult now if you follow the right steps. Now you must be thinking that its going to be the same old story of getting more traffic to your site but wait its not the same. We all know that web pages are the source of getting traffic. The more will be the content more will be the demand but look content does not mean that you can add anything and everything which is of no use. The question is how you can make your web pages different and unique from others. It’s simple you just have to add keyword rich content and modify your web page in a way which is easily approachable with systematic layout making the job easier for your visitors to access them. Your main agenda should be making your visitors your customers.</p> <p>Before thinking of increasing traffic make your web pages terrific.<br /> Read below for the same:</p> <p><strong>Placement of Ads:</strong><br /> Once the ranking increases we start putting ads in our sites but how to place them is a question.<br /> You have to be clever on this. The ads should be placed in such a way that your visitors click them unknowingly. This could be done by adding your ads all over and specifically within the content you are posting on your web page. The benefit of placing your ads within your content is that visitors unknowingly click them and who is at benefit? You. This increases your revenue and that’s your aim.</p> <p><strong>Component of Revenue Generation (Holding Leads):</strong><br /> Your web page should contain subscriber feeds for your visitors i.e., register for your website, feeds, mailing list etc. The motive of this is to get hold of your visitors when they leave your page. This practice will increase your site’s traffic. This again is going to increase revenue of your site.</p> <p><strong>Relevancy:</strong><br /> Relevancy is a most important asset in a way on increasing revenue. Your site should have relevant posts and content. The web pages should have up do date information in order to meet up the requirements of your visitors. This help in gaining trust of your visitors which start opting for your site first and therefore increase revenue. The interest of your visitors should be your priority.</p> <p><strong>Making Ranking better:</strong><br /> To make ranking of your web site you not only have to focus on on-site optimization but also off-site optimization. Now many of us don’t exactly know what’s this is all about, well there is nothing to worry about. Read the following to get the better understanding of the concept:</p> <p><strong>On-site optimization:</strong><br /> It means what type of content is on your sites, how much rich is your content in keywords and what is the layout of your web page. All these things come under on-site optimization. The best keyword rich content you are going to add with easier approach for the visitors your web pages get registered with the search engines faster.</p> <p><strong>Off-site optimization:</strong><br /> It means links you add on your website. Many of us mostly fear of exchanging links, that’s what you loose on. The number of links you exchange with other sites it increase your visitors percentage on your web site. When a visitor from your site clicks on your shared links your sites percentage of the visitor coming back to you increases. So it benefits you too as the visitors visiting on the other sites may click on your site too. You may call this a give and take relationship. This again helps in registering some of your web pages with the search engines.</p> <p><strong>On-site and Off-site optimization is must as it increases revenue for your site.</strong><br /> The above were the basic rules or steps to make your web pages easily accessible by your visitors so that your page views can increase. This will help in registering your sites with the search engines, automatically increasing traffic on your web sites…Weren’t these steps easy?</p> <p>Once your Web Pages are ready in this way you have to follow just 6 Steps to increase the traffic on your web site.<br /> <strong><br /> Have a cup of coffee and in a relaxing mood go through these simple 6 Steps:</strong></p> <p><strong>Search Your Top Ten web Pages with Maximum page views:</strong><br /> Your first step is going to be to search for you web pages where there is maximum visit by the visitors. If you have many web pages with maximum page views where traffic is high that’s good but its kind of tough to manage them all. I prefer to manage limited number of web pages because you can pay adequate attention to them. You have to make one thing in your mind clear that optimize only those pages which have maximum traffic because that’s the demand of your public and therefore this practice is going to give you acceptable returns on your investment. You can set up Google Analytics for the same. To make your work simpler access those web pages which have minimum 200 page views. This should be your priority.</p> <p><strong>Relevancy with the content:</strong><br /> The most important thing is what people are looking for on your site. The maximum page views will reveal you what people are demanding for. This wise step to increase traffic on your web site. By doing this you will come to know what people are looking for and therefore you can add relevant content for the same increasing your page views therefore the traffic.</p> <p>Many sites have web bugs installed. These are hidden scripts which let you know what people are searching for most on your site. Once you know what the demand is for you can increase the relevant content and increase your traffic.</p> <p>You have to edit your page to cut off the useless information as it will increase the credibility of your site. You have to keep on updating your pages in order to keep your web site on top. This much effort is required as little bit of hard work is required in what so ever one does. By increasing relevancy of your site you are in a way increasing likability of your site too. This is going to help you to link with other sites again increasing your sites percentage of the probable visitors.</p> <p><strong>Monetization of your Web page:</strong><br /> This is very important in order to increase your revenue. You can monetize and get hold of the leads at he same time thereby increasing your income. Monetizing is the placing up of advertisements on your site and capture leads are the feed backs of your visitors.</p> <p>There are more benefits if you fully monetize your site or make people subscribe to your site. If you have relevant and good ads on your site your visitors will choose to click on them rather then subscribing your site, either of the ways are as good as any other. You can let them subscribe or you can put good advertisements for the visitors to click or you can balance both.<br /> All this will definitely increase your income. So pull your socks and start heading towards for the same.</p> <p>There are few web pages which are different from the others. These increase traffic on your web pages. Now you need to be clever on this. You have to treat these web pages in such a way that these increase your income. This you can do by removing the default adds and adding profitability of certain ad schemes, clicks on these schemes can earn you more than $15 per day. Isn’t this a wise move?</p> <p>Other ways of monetizing your sites are use of affiliated programs which are commission based which establish e-commerce retailers. You can also opt for networks like the CPA for pay-per-lead or pay-per-sale programs with relativity with your sites. By this you can start the sale business with your visitors by making them subscribe to your site.</p> <p><strong>Use of Capture Leads:</strong><br /> This is very important to understand. Your aim is to connect with your visitors by subscribing to your RSS feed. You not only want them to subscribe to your site but also want them to let you send the emails describing your products and know how’s which may encourage them to participate in your site. For response to your visitors you can add free email software or plugins or you can even hire email marketing providers.</p> <p>For the optimization of your web page you have to customize relevant products of what you are asking your visitors to subscribe for. To know what people demands for that you can know from the search engines.<br /> There is one more technique to make the people subscribe to your site that is by allowing only limited viewing of the content on your site. Once your visitor subscribes this restriction will be removed for the particular subscriber. These are called as teasers and such are used mostly in paid memberships or forums etc.</p> <p><strong>Interlinkage:</strong><br /> Now that your money pages are customized and are up to the mark you can even let the internal traffic enter your other customized web pages if they consist of little or more of the relevant content present on your web pages with maximum page views. This a fast and wise move to increase the bounce rate of your site as increasing of bounce rate means increasing ranking of your site and therefore search engines will register your site faster.</p> <p>Other method of increasing traffic to other pages is by adding keywords or phrases that you can do by entering scripts on specific web pages by Internal Link Building plug-in or the SEO Smart Links plug-in if you are working with Word Press.</p> <p>If you are blogging regularly on daily bases alternate your links on your site so that your visitors always find something knew, this is going to fascinate them each time they visit your web page.</p> <p><strong>Search Engine Ranking:</strong><br /> This is an optional step and should only be performed when you have customized your web pages as per the visitors interest keeping their priority first. You need not do this if your ranking is already good. If your site is ranking blowing 3 than you need to bump and enhance your site’s ranking that you can do by taking the list of top web pages and then check out for their ranking. For checking their ranking you can see it by stats trackers or by using  Google Webmaster Central  which is free and shows you with top 20 queries that visitors search for.</p> <p>Now that you have done everything including customization of your web pages, layout of your web sites, performing all the necessary steps, no one can stop you from making money. Aren’t these steps easy? All you have to do is find the web page with maximum page views, customize and monetize them, add capture leads and then attract traffic from it to whole of your site. These steps if followed are going to earn you a lot of revenue thereby increasing your income.</p> </div> <div style="clear:both;"></div> <div class="postmeta2"> <p><span class="tags">Tags: <a
