As I mentioned in my earlier blog, eating protein rich breakfast or meals increases your productivity and also make your body resistant to any diseases. Remember just eating eggs is not going to fulfill your protein requirement, try other food items like:

  • Nuts – nuts are the best things to have natural protein in your body rather than having artificial protein powder available in the markets. Nuts may include your favorite past time eating items like cashew nuts, almonds, walnuts, Brazilian nuts, hazel nuts, macadamia nuts and pecan. For more economical sources, you can switch to peanuts; they are legumes, the best source of protein rich diets.
  • Cereals – you cannot complete your breakfast unless you have cereals by your side, they are very popular for health centric, it’s available in general grocery stores are low on pockets and give you good fibers for your body.
  • Nut butters are available in varied varieties, select the flavor you like and live a protein rich life. Taking protein supplements are also a good source especially when you are strictly vegetarian.
  • Eggs and brown rice are good choice; you can prepare lots of dishes like rice pudding, omelette, fried rice, Chinese rice and more.

Eating protein rich food has its own benefits, if you do regular workouts then your body needs more protein than any other food items, lets proceed ahead with our main points of worst eating habits continued from the 1st part of the blog:

cereal
  • Consuming too much sugar is bad for your health, there are varied indirect sources of having sugar in the form soft drinks, chocolates, fruit juices, peanut butter, sugar in chips, mustard relish, ketchup, you don’t realize how much sugar you are eating in a day that are much more than normal levels. Consuming too much coffee with sugar and other artificial energy drinks are absolutely a NO-NO, people spend big money on coffee i.e., caffeine which is again bad for health. Lots of people cannot complete their dinner without having desserts, eating ice creams, pastries contain much more sugar than you expect. As the age passes, people start getting diabetic problems and other related problems.
  • Fast paced lifestyle of people have left them with no time to cook their own food, eating frozen foods for a longer period of time will have lots of irregularities in the body. Frozen foods are not just expensive but comes loaded with lots of ingredients to preserve them, I am not telling you to completely avoid eating frozen items but having them on a daily basis is surely going to change your professional life for worst. If you don’t like cooking then you can opt for other healthier options like sandwiches, vegetable wraps, a protein shake, roast chicken pasta, tuna, eggs, these items don’t take any time for preparation and good for health too.
  • Avoid eating junk food, they are not only bad for health but also lets you put on weight. If you don’t know cooking then go for healthier options like vegetable rolls, sandwiches, etc.
  • Concentrate on one thing at a time was taught in our school days, but who pays attention to them today. With fast paced life, people don’t even get time to eat food on a fixed time daily and often I see people eating while doing other office works. If you want to enjoy your food then stop multi tasking while eating, there are chances you might eat much more than you usually do and you cant concentrate on single thing.

We don’t change our lifestyle on our own but circumstances make us do but we surely have control over them by putting in extra hours and preparing delicious food for the whole family. The common advice I keep giving people is to avoid skipping meals, avoid eating too much, eat at regular intervals and prefer fresh food items. For more details read eating habits.

I always liked the low-carb approach which has lots of protein and fat in it. However, I do now add the occassional apple/pear – tastes quite good, I’ll admit.

I’m pretty much sworn off of sugar. And it’s about time too. :)
