Ways to market your products & services

Increasing knowledge base of customers and people across nations have left wider choices not only in the products they use but also at the professional front, the globalizing economies have bought the world closer then initially thought after. There are so many specific professional courses available across continents catering to specific industries may it be clothing, share marketing, gold selling or medicals, the choices are just expanding by the day and its become all the more beneficial for freelancers alike because they can opt for the field of their choice and work as per their conveniences, and choices. Marketing is one such vast field which has many takers, although it’s a very challenging field it has loads of perks and incentives for a truly dedicated professional, it has gained lots of momentum in the recent past with marketing professionals in great demand worldwide, the developed and developing nations of the world may develop products, designs, etc. but in the end they require marketers to market their products, there is where the role of professionals come in.

There is a great joy in working for a specific niche, lets take an example that of a marketer, as the field is so vast and so much in demand it makes a lot of sense to become a freelancer. To build up a reputation of your own is easy but to maintain it is difficult, for if you become a freelancing designer tomorrow, you wouldn’t be bound by any company rules and also that you can do multiple projects at a time without any obligations. At the very start it may sound a little tough, but as you go on creating your specific niche, you become master of things, and focusing on them will let you gain client’s respect and confidence. The best way to attract customers to you is to be accessible, the more you are accessible to them the more they will come to you, given below are some of the things which will help you get to your prospective buyers easily.

  1. Joining a local industrial group is one option of great help, most of the times we see there are individual groups or organizations catering to people of different professionals, and whoever the client requiring services can contact those groups directly, this becomes easier for both the groups. Some organizations have no limitations to the number of members joining the group or whether if you are affiliated to any other group of companies. As a freelancer you have the power to write the sales copy for one unique dealer and also can join other similar groups who are into such profession.
  2. You can make your work famous or you as a freelance professional by organizing a newsletter of your own which caters to your particular niche. The main objective should be to get your name listed amongst your prospective clients and that can be done by sending a newsletter to your customers. You can create your reputation by helping them with useful business tips or helping them get a contract. If your clients are net savvy than you can even send out regular emails to them and get yourself connected to them on a regular basis.
  3. Start attending industrial conferences, this in one way helps you to your own benefit as you learn different things and come across wider clients or prospective buyers to talk to. You may not be in a position to attend world conferences as they might sound a bit expensive, attending regional or national conference or even attending a meet next door can be of great help. Focus on your objectives and don’t get carried away by other people’s perceptions or thinking.
  4. Focus on your portfolio, it shouldn’t matter to you to the number of clients you have in your kitty, you go on giving your quality services to them without any expectations. Even if you don’t have the number of clients ideally it should have been you keep your portfolio the same as to the number of services you were providing to your clients relating to making or designing of websites or for that matter even a business card.
  5. Study the industry you belong to, no matter whether your related industry is in demand or no you have to be expert in the field and know every detail of it. The choice you have made is your own and you have to love your work so more things you will know about your work, the more you will explore and excel in life. Before you approach your clients you should know the product well in detail and know its advantages over other products, there is no point in dealing with your clients if your niche is something else and the product belongs to some other industry.

It so happens many a times doing repetitive jobs sounds monotonous to some professionals and frequently they start feeling lucrative about the jobs they are doing. In any field the work would obviously be a bit repetitive in nature but handling wider varieties of projects can make your work interesting and as you start having deeper interest in your work you will start liking the so – called monotonous work you are doing and very soon you will become an expert in your field. You will be specialized in your field and very soon you will wonder as to the amount of knowledge you held in the said field and you may see more inquiries coming in then normal ones. As you specialize in particular area you can hike your fees along with the amount of quality services you should be giving to your valuable clients,

As a freelancer you can achieve lots more than what you had be getting in a normal nine to five jobs, you would get more experience, more exposure and more knowledge, but remember the niche you belong to and never change it for some more attractive offer. You can type in your suggestions or comments that would be of great help to our new age freelancers.

Hey Chris – industry conferences is probably one of the BEST things a person new to freelance work can do. It gives you a chance to learn with other newbies, visit with experienced freelancers and make connections (sometimes those once in a life time kind of connections)!

Oh – and visit other websites in your niche ;) .
