How to Get More Than 2000 Subscribers Overnight, and Why You Shouldn’t Do it!

I have seen several blogging websites with a video that says ‘How to get thousands of subscribers overnight’ or something like that. And they aren’t false promises. They actually show you how to get subscriptions through OPML and Netvibes. These applications help you replicate your own feed thousands of times.

Is it an unethical way? Yes

Should we do it? No

Why?

1.    Everyone Knows the Secret
If you start a new blog with thousands of subscribers from the very first day, most bloggers would know how you have managed to do it. It’s not a new technique, and you can’t impress people using this technique.

2.    Is it Really an Achievement
Alright. You are a blogger and you have many thousand subscribers on your blog. And not many people know about how you managed to do it. However, you cannot deny that fact that you know the truth. Although you may be smiling looking at the number of visitors on your blog, which aren’t for real, somewhere deep inside, you know what the truth is. It’s not an achievement, and you know it.

3.    Spend Time Doing Something Worthwhile
Instead of spending time finding such amateur techniques, work towards something that would really help your blog. You can invest time producing great content, connect with other bloggers, write posts on other blogs, and so on. Do something that really matters.

4.    What if The Loophole is Fixed?
With this technique, you can convince few readers to join your blog for a while. However, this technique has been here since quite a few years now, and probably feedburner too knows about it. What if they fix the loophole? Suddenly, you subscribers would drop by thousands, and people would know the reality.

5.    Possible Risk
I could have used the same technique to increase the number of subscribers. However, I didn’t do it partly because I find it unethical to involve in such activities, and partly because I am scared. I don’t know how Google would react to such things. May be they can take severe actions against those abusing this tool.

We, as bloggers, have an internet presence to earn money and to help people earn money. Let us not set a bad example for others by involving in such fraudulent activities.

I would be so afraid that Google would find out and black list my site in search engines. Aside from that, there is the ethical issue and the lack of self accomplishment as membership to my blog increases. Too many times Online entrepreneurs are looking for the fast and easy route but I believe “slow and steady” wins the race. If it sounds too good to be true it usually is. There are always consequences to every action we take.

Very nicely written. If you’re not getting subscribers the right way, you’re not going to make any sales anyway, and people won’t trust you. So you might as well do it correctly the first time around.
