Simply having links on other sites is not enough. You need to place your links on sites that have high traffic and enjoy a good reputation in the market. If not many people come to the targeted site, how will your get traffic on your site through them.

2.    Check Reputation

A sight may have high traffic, but it doesn’t necessarily mean it enjoys good reputation. Make sure you link up with sites that have good reputation and have quality people visiting their site.

3.    Target Similar Sites

Linking up with sites is important, but only high traffic and good reputation shouldn’t be your only criteria. You mus link to sites that are similar to your niche. You must not place links on financial sites, if you have a game review blog. The people visiting your targeted sites must have some relationship with the content, services, and products on your site.

4.    Active Links

After you place links on other sites, make sure they are active, and you must check them regularly. If you link is broken, it creates a negative impression about your website. As soon as you find your links aren’t active, remove them.

5.    Limit Links on Your Site

While having link exchange, make sure you don’t stuff your site with links. This will work against you, instead of working for you. As soon as a visitor comes to your site, he shouldn’t be directed to other site very quickly.
