Many people are of the opinion that when you are already in to a corporate ladder why you need a resume, after all resumes are meant for those seeking jobs in a company, some may say it’s a thing of the past and yet many freelancers are of opinion that they don’t require it at all. Although the fact is that they are many more advantages of a resume then you really think of, a Resume is a personal database which states your experiences, your qualifications, your achievements, etc. it’s a quick profile which your employers or clients can see and decide on the future of dealings.
There have been lots of debates happening here and there, arguments over whether resumes are a must or are they really needed for any assignments, from my point of view, as an experienced person I had say you need a resume if you really looking to impress your clients and for all those of our freelancer friends I would like to state that they
would require them to apply for gigs. If you are having a fully fledged resume with all the details about yourself and the company over your website then its more likely that your clients will get interested in you and may go on to read more on your website. There have been many freelancers who are of the opinion that if their businesses are well built they don’t need any such documents to persuade their clients but having resumes helps you to build your reputation and helps to set your own brand, having a professional resume over the site is of great advantage.
New times have bought new changes, the way we write a resumes a decade back were different than what today’s resumes demand and many of our new age free lancers don’t understand the new rules of writing a resume there are many tricks to write a resume through which your clients would be attracted towards you, I have stated some of the methods through which you can learn to write a very powerful winning resume. It doesn’t matter whether you are working for someone or you are not going to apply for any new job in the future having a company’s powerful profile is important for yourself and the company.
The main thing what today’s resume demands is a profile more than what objectives you might be having, objectives have become a thing of the past with more demands and even more supply you have to get your resume right on the top to make it look different from the rest. Create a profile which is really powerful, its different from that of your objectives, profiles are focused more on your professional front and speaks of what you have to offer.
Let me give you a brief idea of what all things your profile should speak about:
Write a resume
Make sure to write a resume in a clear language, we know that creative writing sales, the power packed economy wants people with innovative minds your resume will speak a lot about you and that it will boost your sales too. Along with your image it will increase the reputation of your company and consumers will start taking keen interest in the products you are selling. Your resume should be easily interactive and the one which is communicative leader in the market takes the whole market, in your resume you can include the company profiles of the people you have dealt with and also the company’s achievements, etc. focusing on the aspects that will impress your clients is important just don’t boost any if you haven’t achieved, state the facts and figures.
While writing a resume, state the best attributes about you, add interesting facts first that will let your clients read further, adding some meat to your profiles makes it more data filled. Don’t make obvious statements about you like that “I am a strong worker”, let your client decide on that. Highlight the things you want them to know through easy language not sounding that of a booster, if you are a good speaker than you can practically explain your points when asked in an interview.
Don’t go on writing a resume just to make it look bigger with pages that will bore your clients, state in a short and sweet language that your client gets a detailed about you and your company just by having a quick glance at the resume. Write the matters that relate to you and what all things you have achieved in your career. If you are having experience in varied fields then state them as your interests and that you are capable of multi-tasking in development, design, programming, etc. as a company person you can also state the services that your company provides and the objectives that your company has achieved. Once you have made your aim to write a refreshing company profile, adding your qualities there is one thing you can add up is to add some important key words regarding the work you do.
You must have seen many a company profiles which includes the key words that are most sought after in search engines, this will help you to rake up the demand on famous search websites. You can include all those services you are serving and other new items which you have included in your company sales, etc. the applications and technologies that you are using in your company may be a good indicator to your clients regarding the work that you are doing.
One very important thing to note here is may whatever you write or wherever you write whether on blog or company profiles or ads or emails, write in as a third person. You can leave your comments or suggestions.

Ways to market your products & services
Increasing knowledge base of customers and people across nations have left wider choices not only in the products they use but also at the professional front, the globalizing economies have bought the world closer then initially thought after. There are so many specific professional courses available across continents catering to specific industries may it be clothing, share marketing, gold selling or medicals, the choices are just expanding by the day and its become all the more beneficial for freelancers alike because they can opt for the field of their choice and work as per their conveniences, and choices. Marketing is one such vast field which has many takers, although it’s a very challenging field it has loads of perks and incentives for a truly dedicated professional, it has gained lots of momentum in the recent past with marketing professionals in great demand worldwide, the developed and developing nations of the world may develop products, designs, etc. but in the end they require marketers to market their products, there is where the role of professionals come in.
There is a great joy in working for a specific niche, lets take an example that of a marketer, as the field is so vast and so much in demand it makes a lot of sense to become a freelancer. To build up a reputation of your own is easy but to maintain it is difficult, for if you become a freelancing designer tomorrow, you wouldn’t be bound by any company rules and also that you can do multiple projects at a time without any obligations. At the very start it may sound a little tough, but as you go on creating your specific niche, you become master of things, and focusing on them will let you gain client’s respect and confidence. The best way to attract customers to you is to be accessible, the more you are accessible to them the more they will come to you, given below are some of the things which will help you get to your prospective buyers easily.
- Joining a local industrial group is one option of great help, most of the times we see there are individual groups or organizations catering to people of different professionals, and whoever the client requiring services can contact those groups directly, this becomes easier for both the groups. Some organizations have no limitations to the number of members joining the group or whether if you are affiliated to any other group of companies. As a freelancer you have the power to write the sales copy for one unique dealer and also can join other similar groups who are into such profession.
- You can make your work famous or you as a freelance professional by organizing a newsletter of your own which caters to your particular niche. The main objective should be to get your name listed amongst your prospective clients and that can be done by sending a newsletter to your customers. You can create your reputation by helping them with useful business tips or helping them get a contract. If your clients are net savvy than you can even send out regular emails to them and get yourself connected to them on a regular basis.
- Start attending industrial conferences, this in one way helps you to your own benefit as you learn different things and come across wider clients or prospective buyers to talk to. You may not be in a position to attend world conferences as they might sound a bit expensive, attending regional or national conference or even attending a meet next door can be of great help. Focus on your objectives and don’t get carried away by other people’s perceptions or thinking.
- Focus on your portfolio, it shouldn’t matter to you to the number of clients you have in your kitty, you go on giving your quality services to them without any expectations. Even if you don’t have the number of clients ideally it should have been you keep your portfolio the same as to the number of services you were providing to your clients relating to making or designing of websites or for that matter even a business card.
- Study the industry you belong to, no matter whether your related industry is in demand or no you have to be expert in the field and know every detail of it. The choice you have made is your own and you have to love your work so more things you will know about your work, the more you will explore and excel in life. Before you approach your clients you should know the product well in detail and know its advantages over other products, there is no point in dealing with your clients if your niche is something else and the product belongs to some other industry.
It so happens many a times doing repetitive jobs sounds monotonous to some professionals and frequently they start feeling lucrative about the jobs they are doing. In any field the work would obviously be a bit repetitive in nature but handling wider varieties of projects can make your work interesting and as you start having deeper interest in your work you will start liking the so – called monotonous work you are doing and very soon you will become an expert in your field. You will be specialized in your field and very soon you will wonder as to the amount of knowledge you held in the said field and you may see more inquiries coming in then normal ones. As you specialize in particular area you can hike your fees along with the amount of quality services you should be giving to your valuable clients,
As a freelancer you can achieve lots more than what you had be getting in a normal nine to five jobs, you would get more experience, more exposure and more knowledge, but remember the niche you belong to and never change it for some more attractive offer. You can type in your suggestions or comments that would be of great help to our new age freelancers.
