Playing a business host, is no easy task especially when you have all biggies joining in, in your business party or conferences. A lot of people keep complaining about how they did everything to persuade their, going to be clients and how it all failed in the end? If you look keenly in your own progress report you would easily know where you lacked behind, its not just myself telling you, even if you read big marketing books, or attend conferences telling you how to impress your clients you wont gain much out of them unless you truly dedicate your time in finding yourself as to what went wrong.

Today, with competition rising everywhere you cannot afford to make a single simple mistake as there are lots of others waiting in line to grab the contract, so the question here is, how do really present your business ideas in front of your investors that will satisfy them in investing in your project? Being a good influential personality is one of the characteristics that you need to possess if you really want to achieve something on in life. A person gets more interested in to doing business when he is impressed by your talks, and few words are all it requires to make your potential buyers in to actual buyers.

You need to create a filter of the words that are spoken out from your mouth that will highly be dependent upon persuading your client’s needs. You never know when someone might get interested in your talks and invest in your business. The end point is people should be caring for you and your business by making yourself more appealing and persuasive. Remember, when you are surrounded by the business biggies they are going to surround you with numerous questions so prepare yourself well to answer all of their queries with utter confidence and diligence.

Make a point to tell them why you are actually here and for what purpose you are doing a particular project and why you need their support. After you do explain them everything that you want to, there may be still some portion of people raising, “so what” type of questions, explain them interestingly and make them understand its importance and how it will profit them. Now, the last step is, “What Next?” - explain them the outcome if they are joining you and if they have any queries still, with the process.

You can portray varied concepts and ideas for your business with the help of the company website or through live chat programs. Use extra marketing efforts to get their attention in your business and ask them interactive questions in your blogs which would get you good number of replies and you would understand what they are looking for and may take measures to improve upon. Talk everything relating to business sense and portray yourself like a real professional (although you are already a professional, the point here is to impress them). If need be you can personally talk to them in conferences and get interactive even when you are strangers, you never know which conversation might just strike in a good going for healthy business relationship in the future.

Last blog we discussed about Venture capital and the things that you need to keep in mind while raising finances for your business ventures. You got to have right amount of ingredients to mix well with business requirements, the investors have the money and you have the talent, just show your cards right and go home with a win-win situation for both the parties. Make use of intelligent and unique methods to impress your Venture capitalists and get ahead in expanding your business.

Understanding DECK

By now, I think I have improved my thinking about how venture capitalists work in a business world and how to make them more approaching to finance you; it will work best when you have a readymade Powerpoint presentation, commonly known as “Deck”. Deck can be used to pitch your Venture capitalists about your business; it will give them a clear picture of your project by the graphs, pictures, etc. I am going to help you to prepare that perfect DECK for your presentation; it should be including the following:

All the companies have their own mission statements, so make sure to mention all the details of what your company is into and where you plan to take it.

A company is made up of team, one person cannot run the company. You should be good in convincing people to work for your company than can you convince VC to invest money.

Once your company is established, make sure to do something out of box, like you can portray how your company has stood in the times of adversity.

Don’t just describe the problems that your company can solve, show them practically through slides, graphs and the product details.

Compare your company to other competitors in the field, list them down in your slide show, you can explain your plans to overcome the competition.

Do some research in the market and you can state the different problems which as a company everyone will face. You can offer simple solutions to such problems through slide show.

Have a brilliant business model showing a perfect sense of making money by hook or by crook. You can list out different possibilities in making money to your investors.

Marketing is one of the most important ingredients to sell your products in market, show a clear plan of act what you are going to execute in future.

State clearly as to how much finance you would require and what would be its purpose, when you state openly about your wants people will appreciate it.

Investors would want good returns for the money they are investing, so make an effort to show them how hard you are working to achieve the goals.

With all heavy inputs, I am sure you are going to be questioned from 360 degree angles. I know well how it feels when you are surrounded in a conference and heavy weights asking you questions out of jungle but if they are investing, it is their right to know the answer. My advice to you is simply, stay calm and have confidence in yourself and answer the questions honestly, if you are well prepared and studied your plan in detail, I don’t think any possibility of someone surrounding you. Some of the common questions that they ask during such times are:

What is your target?

Why you need finance from us?

Why should we finance you?

What makes your product different from the competitors?

What if you can’t get any finances?

Believe me, I have attended so many conferences, meetings, given presentations, one thing I found was that you cannot expect people thinking from your point of view, you can only try your best to explain them but the perceptions would never be the same. I remember, the times when I used to go crazy when asked with silly questions but I let it go, staying cool and calm, may be that they are trying to check my patience. You never know what’s running in their minds. So stay upright, lively and get kicking.

Remember the jobs that of freelancers, one had link all these freelancers to procrastinators but do you have a valid reason as to terming them in this manner, may be due to a lack of a more better name they forcibly had to use this stupid name. We very well know the amount of effort a marketer puts in selling his single product, or rather perfecting those all marketing skills or materials or even buying a office space to call its own or to gather a number of clients to start up with. So many books are published in regards to marketing but somehow in a midway we see our path turning towards a different end the best solution to this is to become someone like Jim Koch. Mr. Jim Koch is a founder of the Boston Beer company, after inventing his company once he was talking to one of his wealthy relative who happened to be one of his investors in the company, Koch was continuously discussing about the computer system which would keep a proper track record of the sales in the company, one interesting episode happened here, the relative asked him whether he does have any sales to boost for? Now here was a big question of one’s reputation if some investor is asking about the progress of the company.

Well what answer would Jim would have given to this interesting question, well as the said fact, he said no, not yet, to this the Investor was quite astonished and so he urged Jim to go out and sell because he would obviously expect returns on his investment. So Jim went all out donning his business unit to a bar and prepared for conversation with employee there but as the fate would have it, the employee dint understand the English language and seeing this confusion there the boss came over so Jim started having a word with him and went gaga over his sales and offered a beer sample to the boss, he liked it and ordered some cases and that was when the Boston Beer started and brewer of Samuel Adams went on its success path.

To a few of us, when we start with our own business unit we might not have a wealthy relative advising us to go for sales and recoup with the investment, the fact is we might not have anyone nagging us to go and make sales. As sometimes it so happens you can feel the pain of someone but you cannot do anything about it as you don’t have any deadlines set nor you have anyone nagging over you. There are lots of things you need to keep in mind while selling, your one small mistake can create lots of other problems in marketing your main target is your customers and the motive is selling by hook or by crook. Different people will suggest you different things relating to marketing you have to check with your inner potential whether you can really do it or no, varied questions arise like what you are heading to, or going to do, or what suggestions you have in your mind for others the final question I ask you is who is ideal client, do you have any set conceptions about your client?

If you give a straight forward answer to this question I can understand you might have and be sure about your clients, your IDEAL clients, but unless you are truly sure of this question don’t proceed ahead with your official engagements. If you are looking to find an answer to this question you can refer the ideal Client Profile which discusses and have listings about varied articles relating to client’s profile. Think over your company products and the ways in which you can persuade your clients into buying them, for selling your products its not necessary to have that perfect looking website, when you have enough specific content for selling you need not worry about anything. You have to get prepared to give a perfect shoot out so that your clients agree to you at first go.

Be creative is very important from a company’s point of view as yours is just not the only product being sold in the market, there are your competitors who might be selling the similar products at lesser prices and portraying them to be the best. When you use simple logic into selling your products you will get straight to the winning spree, find out what differentiates your product from theirs, you can write emails, start with creative nodes that will inspire your clients into reading your mails further and get interested in your products. Markets everywhere are getting globalize, and business opportunities are flying everywhere for people belonging to different age groups, different genres and professional qualifications. Now what we were discussing earlier about Jim Koch, if you too have to sell beer out in the market after a little bit of efforts you will again need a beer, I will get to that point later.

When you are out in the market for selling, you would not always get a good deal you may have to hear a “No”, which probably may dampen your spirits, but when you are in a global list of sellers such things are going to come your way. Like I earlier said, you can feel the pain but no one can do anything about you, and sometimes you yourself cannot do any thing about it. There have been lots of experiences in my life which I would term as natural ones, I have many times got a “No” for a sale and in between I sometimes got some “Yes” too. Today businesses have got much more exposure than it got a decade back and markets has shown positive signs towards its growth.

You can well imagine how it feels when thousands of people turn you down; one stage comes in life where you are totally careless about the outcome and you are fearless like never before because already you have gone through the bad phases and now you are bold enough to face anything in life and you might have few occasions in life which you would have thought would never happen in your life like meeting CEOs of some multinationals and there can be a possibility to strike a great good deal. Now this is from a long term point of view, for now you will have to start talking to people on various modes like phones, emails, conferences, personal selling, etc.

Now such efforts are not working out, then you can start putting your ads in google or some famous resource where you will get noticed. You can start putting your profiles on various networking sites which will let your business get noticed, go out and meet out people and get your products selling in market through clients, business colleagues or prospects. Be a speaker always and see how frequently you start making sales, so start taking actions today and build a huge business you always desired. Yeah, and sometimes don’t forget to take yourself out for a beer party and do reward yourself for your achievements, don’t procrastinate, do it now this is the only time to work, start it today.
