There is famous proverb that says, “Action speaks louder than words”.

To adapt this proverb a new kind of leadership style has given birth to style of leadership whereby the leadership style changes with the changing situations, in today’s chaotic economy, with job cuts, pay cuts, recession, and inflation being the part and parcel of the corporate world.

This kind of situational leadership adapts a different approach of leadership to any given situation, with maturity, poise, rational and balanced thinking which would prove beneficial to the company and the team working under him.

Situational leadership is a relevant style in corporate world where large teams are working on project level jobs and software delivery teams co ordinate and a true leader must be able to lead and motivate these teams in any adverse situation without a glitch.

Situational leadership revolves around situations and people. It is imperative that a situational leader is fine tuning its implementation with his task force. The approach used by situational leader should make his team comfortable and motivate to give their best.

A situational leader is expected to implement his leadership skills as per his domain requirements. As a leader he must  have a grip on all the situations and subordinates who come to him for advice and handling people who need little handholding. Also he must have the ability to deflate the inflated egos of his team members and create a stress free environment to get the set targets accomplished.

Tailoring your approach with a flexible approach in your thinking, actions, decision making, is the key in situational leadership.

The situational leaders must have qualities of coaching, advising, and must lead and change strategies in different situations swiftly and efficiently and ensure to keep the company’s cultural principles, business ethics intact.

A situational leader will surely be able to handle any kind of situation with ease and emerge victorious.
