Tips for Curing Blogger’s Block

You read about writers complaining about writer’s block. It’s that state in which even the best writers simply cannot get any intelligible sentence out on paper (or onscreen, as it is these days). It’s the same with bloggers. Even if you’ve been blogging for years now, there comes a time when you’re simply at a loss for words.

Maybe it’s because you’ve been tweeting so much, that you forget how to write a lengthier blog post. Or perhaps you feel as if there’s nothing really new to say because of the multitude of other bloggers out there who are probably thinking the same thing as you are.

Fret not. Here are a few ways to ward of blogger’s block, and how to get rid of it, if you’re already experiencing the symptoms.

Keep an idea notebook

Good writers bring a handy notebook everywhere they go. As a blogger, you should, too! Jot down notes of just about any idea you think can be blog-worthy. Sometimes, you can even jot down excerpts from a dream, or from any interesting scene you happen to come across in your day to day activities. They say prevention is better than cure. Then having a ready list of topics to blog about will help prevent blogger’s block.

It may not even be a notebook. If you’re not so good with your handwriting, why not jot down notes on your mobile phone. Most cellphones these days have note-taking capabilities. If you’re more verbally-oriented, you can buy yourself a digital voice recorder.

Take photos

A picture can paint a thousand words. And so if you’re experiencing writer’s block, you can simply post photos on your blog and provide short captions. Even if you’re not a photoblogger, your readers will appreciate the visual stimulus. This is especially good if your photos can elicit good discussion from your readers.

Take a break

If you’re experiencing blogger’s block, then most likely you’re already overwhelmed with information from being online all the time. Take a break. Get out of your house or office, and take a stroll in the park. Take a quick nap. Do anything. Just get offline for a while so you can feel refreshed. When you get back to your computer, you will see things from a new perspective.

Talk to people

Get online and participate in discussions. Exchange tweets with your friends. Participate in forums. Comment on other blog posts. This will help you loosen up a bit, and disentangle those thoughts in your mind, and help ideas flow more freely.

Don’t worry about blogger’s block too much. It happens to the best of us. It’s only bad if you let it bog you down for too long.

This posting not only applies to bloggers but writers also. As a writer ( cookbooks and short stories and poety) sometimes writers block is like a bad headache. On my blog I write about my life in general but my other stuff is so different that sometimes it’s so hard to write a recipe or a poem or a short store each day. And yes ALL WRITERS NEED A NOTE BOOK! ( Girls should get pretty ones makes writing more fun! ) Love this post!

Very truly said that it applies to writers as well. When you try to write something different on your blog it is always suggested that you plan it before few hours & then start writing.

Better have a notebook next to the bed too. Ideas also pop into our heads when we are about to fall into deep sleep. It’s so annoying.
