Want To Live A Simple Life? Is It HARD?

Simple life has simple means to live it, but are you really ready to let go off all the mean luxuries you are enjoying in life that you earned really hard way. MONEY, the big word is all it matters to stay in this world, even if you are not doing any thing in life and ready to let go off all the luxuries, you still need some money to stay alive for basic necessities, that is food, clothing and shelter. Building a business in itself is not at all a hard thing to face, but running it, is a little challenging, recently I went to one conference where the professionals from different fields had gathered and each were waning out their anger and frustration they had to go through each working day of their lives, some of them even pledged to run away from their business and families and live a sacred life high up in the mountains.

Hearing about all this, I quickly recollected a book that I read just few months back, it was written by one named Robin Sharma, “The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari”, the author portrays his life as a fully successful lawyer, owning all the luxuries in life starting from Armani suits to Ferrari and one day suddenly he collapses in court due to a heart attack and then onwards he left his courtroom forever and went out on his search to find the disciplined way of living, he reached Himalayas where he found the method of enlightened living and his yogi (teacher – guru) teaches him ways to live a simplistic life learning all the virtues of life.

Frankly speaking, we feel living a simple life is easy but to the extent I can see people living in this fast paced world of computers I think suddenly moving from a fast paced life to simplistic life of monks is not easy, unless you have really made up your mind to chuck off all the worldly pleasures, it has to offer. Once when you decide in your mind and heart to find deeper meaning to the life, it wouldn’t be difficult for you to leave the life you have been living.

Money

There are so many books and discourses being held to let and teach you the enlightened way of living, but these efforts goes in vain, once you are out of the book. Its only when you decide it on yourself, then shall you find your own ways to enjoy the simple pleasures of life. The true pleasures of life are not in owning a villa or a Ferrari or an Armani suits, its in simple living and high thinking, have you ever heard of a modern man living in a cave enjoying all the natural pleasures of life. His name is Daniel Suelo, he left his job in the year 2000 and decided to stop earning and living in a cave, he says when he had money, he always lacked in something and now he doesn’t have to earn money nor using it so he doesn’t find anything lacking in life. He is currently living in a cave in a deserted area that is just one hour by foot from the desert town of Moab, Utah.

Such type of living needs a true passion, I myself, tried a couple of times staying isolated but how much far we can stay like this, I got rid of everything I had been using to live a modern fast paced life, I obviously dint go and lived in the caves, I lived at hotels across Europe, lived a total isolated life away from public glare. Believe me, it was an amazing experience of my life – living and doing nothing is so simple and sophisticated except for minimal work you have to do staying alive but what comes next? Are we going to earn something out of it? This type of living is only suitable for the individuals who want to live a simple life and enjoy the natural stuff life has given us, remember, how in olden days people lived for 100 years living in caves and eating all natural stuff and going to work even at the age of 90. This feeling comes out of frustration, one goes through in our fast paced life – especially with the entrepreneurs who face so much of business risks day in and day out.

food clothing

Actually speaking of simple life has no impact, you are just living it for the heck of it, when you are surrounded by individuals and live in a social world. You are here in this world for some purpose, to change the world and make it a better place to live in, wake up from your dream world and get going nothing is going to come at your doorsteps ready made, you got to earn it! You can live with uttermost simplicity with minimal expenses by staying in a city, if you really want to and don’t forget to spread the word for happiness.

I think that we’re put on this earth so that by the time we pass, we’ve made the earth a better place for someone or something. It could be our families, it could be our town, it could be our country….somehow, our presence has touched SOMETHING powerful and left a lasting memory.

You made a good point here. Simple life is something that I always feel what I would be in the future but as I grow older I realized it’s not as simple as saying the word simple…

I think I live a relatively simple life. Everything I currently own can fit inside a small van, and I’ve done this purposely. I sold or donated books I’ve read and didn’t need anymore. I’ve got rid of old clothes. And I’ve naturally always hated having “stuff” that serves no purpose, so I don’t have many possessions.

It can be a challenge sometimes, especially around my birthday when people want to buy me “stuff”. I tell them they don’t need to — just come spend some time with me! Let’s have a party. :)
