Your post is so boring!

I read your post and not surprisingly, I get bored. However, it wasn’t any other boring article. It was awfully unexciting and it gave me a long lasting headache, OUCH! I would prefer hanging out with someone like Tom Hank’s character from the movie Castaway or even talking to Wilson (the volleyball) rather than reading your post.
After going though your post, I went down the street and bought a pack of Tylenol, but it didn’t help. So, I held my head tightly, went near a corner of my house and faced the wall for some minutes. Wow, that was so better than your article. I started recovering and as soon as I came out of the trauma, I sat down and started writing this article to let you know how boring you are.
Many bloggers think that their post is uber cool and electrifying. The fact is it’s nothing more than boring and a major headache trigger.
Nobody thinks your blog is super cool except you.
Really. It’s better you face the fact and wipe out this misconception. You need to get out of your usual perspective and learn what others think about your post. You should have done this much earlier. However, it’s never too late. Avoid

paralyzing people. Avoid punishing them. Here are few things that could possibly spice up your article and make it a bit readable:
- Add humor:
Do you remember the last time you added a little sarcasm in your post? Do you ever think of quoting a humorous line or a funny statement? Did you ever realize that making fun can be used as an interest-grabbing tool? No? I did it today. - Add Excitement:
After your draft your post, don’t directly post it. Add some adjectives that could give meaning and support your content. Make sure you add some powerful words that’s boosts the strength of your article. - Add stories:
Real or fake, I don’t care. Just add some interesting stories that grabs the attention of your readers. Tell them how you got slapped by a women or how you bumped you car. However, make sure you are in sync with the title; otherwise it might just trigger another headache. - Add yourself:
By this, I don’t mean your photos, you might scare somebody. Let your personality glitter through your post. Instead of introducing yourself to others, let your readers know about you are through your writing. Share your ideas, share yourself.
These would really help you improve your blog content and yes, it would also keep many readers away from a serious headache.
Okay. Let’s get serious here. The post doesn’t intend to offend anyone. My sole intention of writing such a post is: I want you to know the significance of entertainment in your post. It’s very important. People want something interesting. Look at it from the reader’s point of view, PLEASE!
Enough of me teaching you about blog posts. Now, it’s your time. Tell me what are the other things that can spice up a post? What are the other elements of an interesting post? Just remember, I ain’t talking about the amount or quality of information in your article. I have written many articles on quality.

I never thought of adding few lines of humor to my article.I’ll start thinking over it.Thanks for advice

Adding humor is quite essential especially when posts are lengthy and complicated. However, one needs to make sure it isn’t overflowing with funny lines, except it’s a humor blog. Humor sparks up your article and hooks the reader.

Awesome tips. I always insert a few jokes in my post (but I don’t think people would understand it though.haha)

According to me, humor helps to garnish your post. So, the choice of words and degree of wit purely depends on you. Keep rocking.

Nice post.
I think that adding a bit of humor and writing more like a friend tends to attract more comments and readers. When you write too professional or serieus, people dont normally leave comments or read a lot of posts. Well, this is my experience.

Very true Gary,
People like to read articles that are moderately casual and loaded with information. Very lengthy and serious articles are boring and repel readers, unless people are genuinely interested or you are revealing some ground-breaking facts. Thanks for stopping by.

“Nobody thinks your blog is super cool except you”
Thats completely right for two reason. Either you only understand what you write or you love to praise your own work.
Anyways, adding humor is a good idea. I totally suck at it but will try some humor on my future posts. Thanks.

Great post Chris!!! LOL, this happens more often than not. I think humor is a great tool to keep readers interested and in tune.
Another thing I notice is the lack of paragraph break ups and useful headers, when things run together it’s usually hard to keep someone interested and reading.

Hi JR,
I guess that’s a very useful advice. Along with adding humor lines, it important to have proper paragraphing with relevant headers. The idea is to provide people what they want without making it complex.
Thanks for adding value to the post.

Awesome post Chris – the number of blog posts I read on a weekly basis that make me really want to fall asleep is astounding. I’m sure there are some people that understand the author, but most are just plain “boring”. Throwing humor or the unexpected is a great way to liven things up a little and keep your visitor’s attention.

Connecting with your audience is key, that’s why you have to insert jokes related to their interests, wants and needs. This way they’ll surely understand what you’re trying to transmit

In a world of regurgitated content it does take a lot to stand out from the crowd. Pinning down that edge that you posses, and making it work to your best advantage, is definitely key here.

Hey Jacques,
You always provide some very useful insights. With millions of blogs available on internet today, one really possess or sharpen essential skills to attract readers. SEO definitely helps to pull traffic, but in long term, what matter most is your skill. Thanks for enlightening on the importance of ‘the winning edge.’

I dunno Chris…..
Boring, original and funny are all relative things, dontcha think? For example, to someone interested in measuring data in search engine algorithms, a blog post about a/b split testing for blue vs. red widgets in the IT management sector may be the bee’s knees.
On the other hand, someone looking for a fluffy, sugary sweet 350 sound byte on what color is the best for your side bar on your blog may think that Problogger’s tips are great.
I think that just because one person doesn’t like something doesn’t mean that other won’t as well. When “funny” becomes a static term that can be clearly defined, then maybe you may be onto something.
